Beyond, indeed. The Maestro already sits at the top of the Sakurai-Kohno line, but this Beyond model takes things further than the standard flagship line by way of specially selected materials. Just look at the Brazilian rosewood on this one.

Very Good(+); The guitar presents very cleanly overall and is in quite nice shape but for a few spots of isolated wear, shown in the last pictures. It’s possible that the mark in the top has been lightly touched up. Current string height is about 3.5mm to 2.5mm from bass to treble, with light relief in the neck. It plays nicely, and there is much room on the saddle for adjustment.

In the Sakurai - Kohno lineup, the Maestro sits at the top the of range, and the standard models already are made with best materials worthy of their flagship model. But as the “Beyond” designation may imply, the material selection on this particular one takes things even further and culminates in a very special guitar. The Brazilian rosewood is largely tight, dark, and straight grained, yet includes visually dramatic flourish. The top is beautifully colored, tightly grained, with much silking on display. The bindings are also Brazilian rosewood, adding a sense of further luxury. I love the tuners on this guitar, Alessi. They are finely engraved, and utilize one of my favorite materials, black mother of pearl. A fine guitar through and through, and a very nice example of the late builder’s work.
