Kirk Sand Rosewood Nylon String
1997 Kirk Sand Rosewood Nylon String
Kirk Sand made some beautiful performance-worthy nylon string guitars. Not only do they have an RMC system for stage sound, they sound great acoustically, with good volume and tone qualities. A model seen less often, this is a rosewood model constructed with separate sides and a back plate, as opposed to the carved out mahogany-backed models.

Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent(+); There is some very light wear, but considering it was made in 1997, it’s in beautiful shape. The last pictures show the most prominent wear. There’s some light scratching in the right hand area that wouldn’t show, and it’s possible other minor marks may be found if searched for. There is a small split in the block that the battery compartment attaches to, but it’s solid and hidden from sight. Set up very nicely currently, with string at about 2.5mm to 2mm from bass to treble, and light / moderate relief.
***
Kirk Sand guitars were already not the most common to find, but since the builder’s passing in 2024, they have become even less numerous. This is a beautiful example, and I like this version that is constructed with separate side plates. Although its main use could be considered as an amplified guitar with its RMC system, it has enough depth to make a nice acoustic sound. An eye-catching instrument too, with lines that still feel contemporary and a vivid abalone top border.
