Ryohei Echizen Jazz Nylon

2025 Ryohei Echizen Jazz Nylon

With a 3-4 year waitlist, work from Japanese luthier Ryohei Echizen can be hard to come by, especially in the US. Here is a very recent Jazz Nylon, completed in the end of 2025. Beautifully even-colored Euro moon spruce top, along with a very nicely grained set of Madagascar(n) rosewood.

Specs / Measurements

  • 2025

  • Euro Moon Spruce / Madagascar(n) rosewood

  • Original lattice bracing

  • Brazilian rosewood bridge, carved

  • French polished shellac finish

  • ~47.4mm nut

  • ~650mm string length

  • ~57.8mm string spacing at saddle

  • EVO gold frets

  • 12-hole tie block

  • Pagos tuners

  • Hiscox hard case

Condition / Setup Notes

Excellent(+); In extremely clean shape reflective of the recent year; there is only the lightest handling wear evident, and presents largely as new. Set up with a nice easy string height about 2.5mm to 2mm form bass to treble, with minimal relief in the neck. The Hiscox case is non-original, and an upgrade from the original poly foam case.

***

It can be hard to find a high-quality nylon sound along with the more contemporary neck profiles and cutaway, but with this Echizen all things come together in a satisfying way. Construction details are nice also, including the flush / compound cutaway and the carved, 12 hole bridge. Materials are top notch, with an even colored Moon spruce top with no run out, and a set of Madagascar(n) rosewood with beautiful color and grain. Even the fretwire (EVO gold) and tuners (Pagos) subtly add to the overall feeling of fineness. With an instrument like this in hand, it’s easy to see why the builder carries a waitlist extending to 3-4 years.
