Excellent; The guitar overall retains is luster and is in very nice shape with only light, typical wear, mostly in the top. The last pictures will give you an idea. Currently set up with string height about 3.5mm to 2.75mm from bass to treble, and light relief in the neck. There is a modest amount saddle remaining, perhaps about 1mm. Playing nicely as it is.
***
Though Ruck made a relatively large number of instruments during his career, the guitars are still relatively rare on the used market as they don’t change hands too often. This one is a beautiful example of his work, and to go along with its fine sound it was made with fine materials; a tightly-grained and silky cedar top, along with a nicely figured set of rosewood for the back and sides. The tuners are nice too, Sloane, which from this era are no longer available. These are nicely engraved, and the mother of pearl buttons have such an alluring color and translucency. A great guitar from an internationally-celebrated American luthier.
