Ribbecke Halfling 17” Archtop

2010 Ribbecke Halfling 17” Archtop

This is a Ribbecke shop-built Halfling, and gets its name from its hybrid design incorporating both flattop and archtop elements. The result is a bass response you might expect from a flattop, with the mid range you might expect from an archtop. Beautiful woods throughout, with an Alaskan red cedar soundboard and exquisitely carved maple back. The floating pickup is a Ribbecke branded Bartolini.

***

It can be hard to find successful departures from established designs in the guitar world, but the Halfling would be counted among them. Adding to its rarity is the fact that the Halflings are no longer in production.
