Condition / Setup Notes
Very Good; The guitar presents cleanly overall, but with raking light reveals minor honest surface wear throughout. The neck finish has worn and matted as well. This is a guitar that’s been played, which is usually a good indicator. The string path is in great shape, and the string height is currently just under 4mm to 3mm from bass to treble, with a substantial margin of saddle remaining. Last pictures give examples of wear.

Since his passing in 1998, Kohno guitars have continued to gain regard among classical guitarists. Aside from Kohno’s accolades, it’s easy to see why with the high sense of craftsman ship, quality of materials, and the beauty of sound. It seems that during this era high quality Brazilian rosewood was more readily available, and the set utilized on this particular guitar is no exception. It has good color, with the lighter parts displaying a nice chatoyancy, and a bit of dramatic grain by the center seam. The marquetry in the top purfling is also a nice adornment that sets apart this Kohno Special.
