Condition / Setup Notes

Very Good; It shows signs of use commensurate with age and delicate finish, but overall presents very nicely and retains is luster. Light tarnishing on some parts of tuners. Current string height is about 3.5mm to 2.5mm from bass to treble, with just a minimal amount of relief in the neck. Playing nicely.

***

This is a departure from the typical numbered models from Yukinobu Chai, and I haven’t seen another quite like it. It is on another level in terms of sound and construction details. Multiple elements stand out, and perhaps the first to draw the eye is the intricately carved rosette. A design is made in relief in the spruce top itself. This same pattern is echoed on the tie block, and the bridge wings are beautifully carved and finely textured. The headstock too is carved spectacularly with very fine detail, and is mated to the neck with an expertly fitted V-joint. On the neck, there are decorative ebony inlays in addition to the structural stringers. Perhaps the most stunning visual element of this guitar is the Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, with tight, straight grain along with very dramatic color. A really beautiful set with tons of character. The tuners too make a statement, Fustero in this instance, with mother of pearl buttons. No expense was spared in making this guitar, and represents a very special and perhaps singular guitar from the lauded luthier.
