Martin HD28-BLE Brazilian Limited

1990 Martin HD28-BLE Brazilian Limited

A very nice Martin dread from 1990, one of the earliest efforts to recreate specs from their “Golden Era.” Notably, this model has 1/4” scalloped braces, forward shifted, and of course the Brazilian rosewood back and sides. One of a total run of just 100 units.

Specs / Measurements

  • 1990

  • Spruce / Brazilian rosewood

  • Brazilian rosewood head plate, bound

  • ~1.75” nut

  • ~25.4” string length

  • M6 tuners

  • Original hard case (handle loose)

Condition / Setup Notes

Excellent; For its year and rarity there is minimal wear. Very clean overall, with some light scratching, small scuff on the back; nothing that would really show in photographs. Slightest fret wear. The case handle has come loose. The guitar currently has a string height in the neighborhood of 5/64-3/64 from bass to treble, with light relief. Playing nicely.

***

This is a rare limited edition, one of only 100 units. Aside from the low production numbers, the Brazilian rosewood for the year is uncommon now also. The bound headstock is a unique touch to this model, given that the rest is in a 28-style without a bound fingerboard. Perhaps worth mentioning again is the bracing on this one, 1/4” scalloped and forward shifted.
