***
GR Bear steel strings are designed differently from the ground up, based on the philosophies of the Australian school of guitar making. This essentially is to utilize mass and stiffness to focus the string energy to a top braced lightly, and reinforced with carbon fiber. From here, the bracing pattern itself is falcate, a further departure from the familiar. The design intent shines through in the execution, and the result is a guitar of remarkable resonance and sustain that leaves you with the impression that something different is in fact going on here. This is a full package guitar, with the best materials including the finish, an oil varnish. The Brazilian rosewood on this guitar came initially from a supplier in Portugal, who noted that the grain and color is rare and desirable, reserved for the most exclusive uses. It had come from the stock of a third or fourth generation furniture maker who closed for business, and its estimated that the lumber was first acquired in the early twentieth century, making the set over 100 years old. The builder now carries a waitlist extending into 2029, so this guitar represents a great opportunity to own a special, heirloom instrument without a years long wait.
