David Rubio Classical

1995 David Rubio Classical

There are a number of eras in David Rubio’s guitar-making history, and most specimens out there were made by his illustrious assistants (among them Paul Fischer, Kazuo Sato, and Edward Jones). This one from 1995 is a rarity, an example made by David Rubio himself.

Specs / Measurements

  • 1995

  • European spruce / Brazilian rosewood

  • French polished shellac

  • ~650mm string length

  • ~52.35mm

  • ~59.25mm string spacing at saddle

  • Scheller tuners with MOP buttons

  • BAM High Tech case

Condition / Setup Notes

Excellent; the shellac has been touched up on the top, and possibly behind the neck. Currently, there is only minimal surface wear and is in very clean shape. The Scheller tuners are replacements. While it’s not a condition issue, there is a section of grain on the top worth noting that is especially chatoyant, and changes appearances depending on the angle (last pictures). The string height is currently about 3mm - 2.5mm, with minimal relief in the neck. There is still room on the saddle if desired.

***

A masterfully crafted guitar made from the finest materials. Notably, this is an example made by David Rubio himself, during a time that he was operating a solo workshop.
