Ruggero Ascione Electric Classical Nylon

c2010 Ruggero Ascione Electric Classical Nylon

Here’s a very cool electric nylon string made by Ruggero Ascione in Italy. While it’s an electric guitar, it retains some classical flavor with its flat fretboard, and generous 50mm nut. It brings this together with nice contemporary details like a 24 fret neck and truss rod.

Specs / Measurements

  • C2010s

  • Chambered, figured mahogany body / carved spruce top

  • Ebony fingerboard

  • ~50mm nut

  • ~650mm string length

  • ~59.8mm string spacing at saddle

  • ~4.06lbs

  • 24 frets

  • Adjustable truss rod

  • Gotoh tuners

  • Ovation (?) pickup with wood volume / tone knobs

  • Generic gig bag

Condition / Setup Notes

Very good(+); The guitar overall presents fairly cleanly, but shows light wear overall on closer inspection. There is a very small and inconspicuous chip in the side, and some paint cracking around the saddle adjustment holes in the back. The guitar is set up currently with string height about 2.5mm to 2mm from bass to treble, with very minimal relief. The guitar has a truss rod, so the relief is easily adjustable. This is also true of the string height, which adjusts with hex wrenches through the back of the body.

***

A very nice electric nylon string, unique in that it is a solid body electric guitar, but maintains some feel of a classical guitar with the 50mm fretboard and flat radius. High quality components and construction, and notably lightweight at about 4.05lbs. It also gives me a similar vibe to the Parker Nylon / Spanish Fly, a lightweight solid body nylon of high quality and good sound, while doing its own unique thing.
