Sadowsky Jim Hall
Sadowsky · 2012
Now discontinued, the line of archtops from Sadowsky continue to impress and remain in high demand. This one is from an earlier run with extra purfling lines, potentially more desirable to some. This one also includes the signature truss rod cover, still attached to a cardboard backing and never installed on the guitar.
Specs / Measurements
2012
~1.75” nut
~24.75” string length
Custom wound DiMarzio
Gotoh tuners
Original hard case, signature truss rod cover, truss rod tool
Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent; the guitar shows typical, light wear commensurate with its age, but it’s all quite minor and needs to be looked for. The headstock face shows the most wear from string changes, but still in very nice shape, needing raking light to discern. Light fret wear, mostly below the b and e strings. The case shows some wear, but is solid. Currently set up with string height about 5/64" to 4/64", with just a touch of relief in the neck.
Additional Thoughts
These Sadowsky archtops are now discontinued after about a 20 year run, and in that time have become one of the go-to electric archtops out there. It's easy to see where that reputation comes from, with each instrument maintaining a consistency that the brand is known for. This one is no exception, and has a great sound and playability, excelling in jazz contexts.
