Keisuke Fujii 00
Keisuke Fujii · 2023
Very glad to have this guitar back in. Kesiuke Fujii has been making a splash lately in the US, and here’s another great example of his work. One of his mentors in the past was the veteran luthier Stephen Marchione, and his skill in creating exacting and musical guitars is on display here. One of my favorite things about Fujii guitars in general is the mosaic rosette, but here an incredibly figured set of ziricote too draws the eye.
Specs / Measurements
2023
Carpathian spruce / high-figure ziricote
Rosewood bridge, binding, fingerboard
Twelve fret neck
~1.73” nut
~25” string length
~2.22” string spacing at saddle
~14.3” lower bout
3.68” - 4.23” depth from heel to tail
Original mosaic rosette
Magnetic 3D truss rod cover
Gotoh 510 tuners ebony buttons
Arched top hard case
Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent(+); the guitar remains in beautiful shape. There is spare wear here and there, but in a condition reflective of its recent year. The saddle is nice and tall with a string height of ~5/64”-4/64” and minimal relief, ideal for fingerstyle.
Additional Thoughts
Among other things, Fujii guitars have such a visual appeal to them. In addition to the rosette, the truss rod cover design is original, attached with a magnet, and freely removable. It’s also somewhat of a sculpture on its own, beautiful, and easy to grip for taking on and off. All of this is of course moot without the voice to back it up, and this 00 has a luscious one, with long sustain and immediacy of sound.
