Joel Michaud OM-R
Joel Michaud · 2017
A very nice OM-R cutaway made by Joel Michaud in Canada. This one in Euro spruce and beautifully figured Panamanian rosewood.
Specs / Measurements
2017
Euro Spruce / Panamanian Rosewood
~1.82” nut
~25” string length
~2.26” string spacing at saddle
Backstrip truss
Scalloped nut
EVO Gold frets
Gold leaf accents in relief
Schertler tuners
Original Hiscox case
Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent(+); The guitar is in beautiful shape, exceptionally clean. No notable wear. Currently set up with string height about 5/64” to 4/64” from bass to treble, with just a touch of relief. Plays nicely.
Additional Thoughts
This guitar does everything right in terms of bringing a satisfying sound and good playability, but it also comes with some nice aesthetic and technical details. There are gold leaf accents in the headstock, back, and tail; they are textured nicely and in relief, creating nice visual interest. The scalloped nut is also an attractive detail. The backstrip truss is a nice design touch, there to mitigate back creep over the years that can distort the body geometry. The material selection too is notable; a great choice with the Panamanian rosewood, a less usual Dalbergia, and with excellent grain and color. The top is also excellent, even grain and color, with no run out. This is a well-designed and thought out guitar, with all aspects considered.
