Sergei De Jonge Jazz Nylon
2008 Sergei De Jonge Jazz Nylon Brazilian Rosewood
Rare out in the wild, this is a Jazz Nylon model from the workshop of Sergei De Jonge in Canada. While you don’t have to look hard to find the uniqueness of its design, it features an adjustable neck that allows string height changes while tuned to pitch. Always nice, it’s made from a beautifully-grained set of Brazilian rosewood and a heavily bear-clawed spruce top.

Condition / Setup Notes
The guitar presents beautifully in excellent condition, with minimal surface wear. The top has been repolished at some point, and there is evidence of the wear that was once there. The string height currently is about 3.25mm to 2mm from bass to treble, and is adjustable under string tension with the supplied wrench.
***
A guitar of rare beauty and innovation. Despite its name, I find it has wide-ranging utility with its strong and pleasing tone. After all, the maker is deeply versed in the construction of traditional classical guitars and brings that background to this build. While it shines as a musical instrument, it’s a delight for all senses, even retaining a sweet smell of rosewood. The grain in the rosewood is nice and straight, and the bear claw in the top is dramatic. As noted previously, it also features an adjustable neck that allows string height changes quickly and under string tension. To top it all off, there is a K and K pickup installed, which expands its already vast utility.
