A very rare bird, a classical guitar from a noted luthier, but with a cutaway. This one is made by Robert Ruck, and aside from the functionality, the cutaway is beautifully executed.

Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent; the guitar retains its overall luster and remains in very nice shape, with only spare, typical wear, mostly in the top. There was a crack in the top right along the fingerboard bass side that has been repaired, although its hardly discernible from the exterior. Current string height is about 3mm to 2.75mm from bass to treble, with just a touch of relief in the neck. The case has a small chip in the fiberglass exterior, exposing carbon fiber underneath.

If only there were more cutaways on classical guitars of this level! A rare find, and will scratch this very specific itch for those looking. For all that may be said about cutaways affecting the sound, this guitar should put that feeling to rest. With Ruck’s reputation out in the world, little needs to be reiterated here other than to say this indeed is fine work. I’ll say again, that a cutaway on a classical guitar this nice, from such a celebrated luthier, doesn’t come around very often.
