***

From first glance, there is a lot going on here. The Metro Skele is designed as a semi-acoustic guitar, and the contemporary looks serve the overall function to produce an instrument with a surprising amount of resonance unplugged. For fans of the headless fan fret configuration, this is such a satisfying example. There are features available only from Rick Toone; one is the patented bridge / tuner assembly (Intonation Cantilever™ individual string tuner-bridge), and the other is probably my favorite, the Advantage™ neck profile. The neck has such a nice feel to it, almost like a D profile that thins at a hard angle on the treble side to the edge of the fretboard. It’s slim, finished so smoothly, and the maple neck itself makes for a satisfying, firm feel. A very cool guitar, at the intersection of form and function with both things considered.
