Paul McGill Super Ace

2009 Paul McGill Super Ace

Paul McGill’s Super Ace is a design that has stood the test of time; a beautiful nylon sound acoustically, along with electronics for the stage. And it cuts a nice unique figure too, instantly recognizable as McGill. The cedar top is especially nice with a depth to the grain and color, and also notable are the Graf tuners.

Condition / Setup Notes

Excellent(+), The guitar remains in beautiful shape, there is no wear on it to be reasonably pointed out. You might mistake it for a much more recent year. Currently set up with string height about 2.75mm to 2mm from bass to treble, with minimal relief; this guitar has a truss rod, so the relief can also be adjusted.

***

Paul McGill has been making nylon string guitars for a very long time, and it shows in this Super Ace. While it was designed as an instrument for the stage, the builder’s decades of experience making classical instruments shines through, and the acoustic voice is equally alluring. This particular one has a full 24 frets, and the cedar is especially dark and dramatic in both color and grain. The maple is figured beautifully. The Graf tuners on this one make it stand out further, as they are for the most part no longer in production. A rarer guitar to spot these days, and especially in this sort of condition.
