A nice example from the hands of lauded American luthier Paul Jacobson. His guitars have been played and praised by notable concertizing professionals including Scott Tennant, who went on to win the 1989 Tokyo International Guitar Competition with his Jacobson.

Very Good; The guitar has handling / play wear overall, but it is organic-feeling and appropriate for its age, and presents very nicely. There’s been a 20th fret added, and it’s not known if the tap plates are original, although they have been installed cleanly and professionally. It was refretted at some point by GV Rubio, and some back braces reglued at that time; with the overall patina, it would be difficult to discern without knowing. String height is currently about 3.5mm to 2.5mm from bass to treble, with just a touch of relief. It plays comfortably now, but there is not too much room left on the saddle. The leather of the case handle is coming loose at one section, but is solid right now.

A very nice guitar, deserving of the high reputation that Jacobson had accrued over his career. It resonates strongly in all registers, and each note pops with a certain clarity, and the voices have a nice separation that keeps melody and accompaniment in the right places with ease. The signature “twist” in the neck makes for a pleasing feel, and the outline and flow of the body is pure elegance.
