1985 Paul Fischer / Norbert Dams Panormo 7 String

Since originally listing this guitar, I got in touch with Paul Fischer who graciously provided me with more information about this guitar. It actually began life as a 6 string Panormo guitar, and was modified with the floating seventh string by German guitarist and craftsman Norbert Dams. According to Mr. Fischer, Mr. Dams is a fine artist who is always exploring new ideas. The work is done impeccably, and with much care and attention to detail. The only detail I can find that shows its history, is that the finish on the headstock catches light in a slightly different way. If it was not pointed out, it very well could be missed. For those of you that have had an eye on this, the original ad has been preserved below. To me there is no diminishment of quality, and it remains a unique and beautifully made instrument, especially considering the association between the two craftsmen.

A unique and very fine guitar from the well-respected English luthier Paul Fischer. It’s essentially a Panormo tribute, with floating seventh string. It’s nicely executed, and in theory could be played as a six string as well. Amazing details in the nut slots.

Condition / Setup Notes

The guitar is beautifully patinated with crackling lacquer, but is in very clean shape with minimal surface wear considering its age. It is playing nicely with string height about 3.5mm - 2.75mm from bass to treble.

This guitar has such a fineness and elegance in hand. Even the nut has been crafted with extraordinary detail, with each slot comprised of a movable insert set with saw teeth. In theory the slots are adjustable. A very nice example of the celebrated work from luthier Paul Fischer.
