Parker Fly Nylon Pre-Refined
1999 Parker Fly Nylon
Not too much explanation needed for this one! A pre-refined Nylon Fly, also known as the Spanish Fly in the later years. From the Select series, the Nylon Fly is perhaps the most coveted in the lineup. This one is in great shape, and is signed by Ken Parker. It’s also notably light in weight, only about 3.98lbs.

Condition / Setup Notes
Excellent, The guitar remains in very clean shape in considering its age and rarity. The finish overall retains its luster and is largely free from wear with the exception of a chip at the base of the headstock, and an impression and small chip on the edge (last pictures). The battery cover latches, but is missing a small plastic piece. The shim pack is not totally original, but includes what is needed to raise string height (if desired!). In Parker fashion, the string height is currently very low, about 2mm-1.5mm from bass to treble with minimal relief, but it’s playing cleanly and feels great.
***
It may be fair to say that for the Fly fan, the Nylon is the most coveted model out there, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a totally unique nylon string guitar, and so many specs come together to make it a special instrument. At just under 4lbs (from a one-piece spruce body), the guitar is all about great first impressions. Add to that the stainless frets, a generous width on the nut, and a liberatingly low string height. The Fishman pickup system I believe was made for the Nylon Fly, and the individual output levels of the strings can be adjusted to taste. In the end, the specs culminate in a whole that feels greater than the sum of its parts, and is a pleasure to look at, hold, and play.
