Manuel Contreras II Especial 1a Brazilian Classical

2005 Manuel Contreras II 1a Especial Brazilian

Another very nice example from the workshop of Manuel Contreras II, a 1a Especial in cedar and Brazilian rosewood.

Specs / Measurements

  • 2005

  • Cedar / Brazilian rosewood

  • ~51.16mm nut

  • ~650mm string length

  • ~56.92mm string spacing at saddle

  • 12 pole piece adjustable Kent Armstrong floating pickup, volume and hidden tone control

  • Fustero tuners

  • Arched top hard case

Condition / Setup Notes

Very Good; The guitar shows wear overall of a guitar that’s been played in its lifetime, in the form of various surface wear. It remains without any structural issues, however, and the string path has been maintained very nicely. String height is currently about 3mm to 2.5mm from bass to treble, with a good margin of saddle remaining, and light/moderate relief in the neck.

***

A prime example from this lauded luthier, with beautifully selected woods. As is often the case with guitars in well-played condition, it sounds very good with an open dynamic sound.
