Hand-built by Lynn Dudenbostel in Maryville, Tennessee — one of a small handful of instruments he completes in a given year. Dudenbostel worked for years restoring and studying pre-war Martins before building under his own name, and his 18-style dreadnoughts are made with that classic, traditional inspiration. His experience shines through in this work.

Condition / Setup Notes
Very Good; The guitar retains its overall luster, and is very clean shape. It does not exhibit much surface wear for being made in 1997, and mostly needs a close inspection to identify. There is picking wear on the pick guard. A bubble in the lacquer on the binding. It does show its age to some degree in the form of lacquer sinking here and there, clouding in certain areas over purfling. The back of the neck is gloss; it’s possible the neck used to be matte, as the headstock is this way. It has had a neck reset, which was done well. Current string height is about 6/64” to 4/64” from bass to treble, with a touch of relief in the neck. Nice tall saddle.

A classic, the twelve fret mahogany dreadnought. Nice to have a faithful tribute to this icon made by such a celebrated luthier, and from such a fertile period in his career. Beautifully played in, and ready to make music for the next 30 years.
