Larrivee All Bearclaw Spruce D10
2000 Larrivee All Bearclaw Spruce D10
What a find! The entire body is made from bear claw spruce. The top really steals the show with outrageous figure, but the back and sides too are figured beautifully, providing different flavors of bear claw. Not just a novelty, the guitar has a nice big sound you would expect from a D sized guitar.
Specs / Measurements
2000 (Dec 11)
Highly figured bear claw spruce top, back, and sides
10 series inlays
Ivoroid bound neck, flame maple bound body
~1.69” nut
~25.5” string length

Condition / Setup Notes
The guitar remains overall in excellent(+) shape, with only minimal signs of use, if any at all. It presents very cleanly and maybe something can be found in raking light, but it largely appears to have lived in its case as a collector piece, which makes a lot of sense for this specimen. String height is about 5/64” - 4/64” from bass to treble, with just a touch of relief. Playing nicely.
***
A very rare and cool guitar from Larrivee, from the Canada days. It’s probably fair to say an all-spruce guitar is rarely encountered, and even less so one that has such highly figured pieces utilized throughout, and from a respected and popular maker. One of the most interesting and stunning Larrivee guitars I’ve come across.
