Masaru Kohno Special Classical 640mm

1990 Masaru Kohno Special Model Brazilian Rosewood

This is a very nice Special model Kohno from 1990, and became the top model in the lineup after replacing the No 50. Reflective of this designation, the guitar has a beautiful wood compliment with a fine spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The neck dimensions are also special with this guitar, with a slightly narrower nut and a 640mm string length.

Very Good, The guitar remains in very nice shape in considering its age. It retains its overall luster, but shows wear in the form of various marks. A sampling of general wear is shown in the pictures. Currently set up with string height of about 2.7mm-2mm from bass to treble, with minimal relief.

***

This is a beautiful example of a Kohno guitar, and the slightly narrower nut and 640mm string length will make it ideal for some. At the time of production, the Special was the top-of-the-line and indeed represents some of the finer work from the Kohno workshop.
