Keisuke Fujii OM

2022 Keisuke Fujii OM

This one had come through here before in the past, and being a big fan of Keisuke Fujii’s work I’m very glad that it’s found its way back to me. This one has a special wood compliment, with a “blue” Sitka top salvaged from Alaska, and beautifully figured set of mahogany that somewhat defies categorization. I always mention this about Fujii guitars, but my favorite design element may be the mosaic rosettes inspired by Japanese traditional crafts, and the truss rod cover which is itself a work of art in miniature.

***

I’ve had a handful of Fujii guitars now, and each one is a triumph of design, construction, and sound. This one has some particularly notable specs, like the “blue” Sitka top, salvaged from Alaskan boathouses. The mahogany also is of a unique figure. The guitar to me has a notably long sustain, and takes to a flatpick as deftly as with fingerstyle play. Aesthetically, I’m drawn to the mosaic rosettes that are inspired by Japanese traditional crafts, and the truss rod covers that are sculptures in miniature. Functionally, it’s also quite nice that it’s attached with a magnet, and easily removable. Another fine guitar from Keisuke Fujii in Toyama, Japan.
