Condition / Setup Notes

Very Good(+) / Excellent (-): The guitar retains its overall luster, but shows its age in the form of various light wear and finish checks. Mostly it takes raking light to reveal. There is some finish sinking along the back strip and over the purfling. Most notably there is a small split in the bass side waist, which looks like it is just in the finish. It’s possible it’s into the wood, but the sides are layered and there is no evidence of issues on the interior, so it is stable (shown in the last photograph). The string path remains in great shape, with frets in great shape, plenty of saddle, and a string height currently about 6/64”-4/64” and just a touch of relief.

***

Everything just rings nicely on this guitar, with a lusciousness you might expect from a larger guitar. It’s a pleasure to play and to listen to. It performs strongly in the looks department as well, with a distinctive outline and an eye-catching set of Macassar ebony for the back and sides. The nut is slightly wider at about 1.81”, which will appeal to some, and there’s a nice electronics package (you’ll need a preamp for full effect). A satisfying instrument in all regards, reflective of the builder’s high reputation in the industry.
