Condition / Setup Notes

Excellent, The guitar remains in nice shape, with only light wear in the top visible in raking light, most notably some pick scratches by the sound hole. The back and sides are largely free of wear. The bridge has been re-glued in its lifetime, although there is no specific indication of this. There is an input jack installed although there is no pickup presently. Set up currently with low string height of about 4/64”-3/64” with light relief in the neck. Nice for light fingerstyle.

***

This is a nice guitar from a builder who apprenticed with Jim Olson before striking out on his own. It has a deep resonance and a long sustain, and is a pleasure to play. For those with an appreciation for domestic woods, it also utilizes black locust for the back and sides, which is not something you see every day. Even with the long tradition of tropical hardwoods in instrument-making, this guitar may make you rethink any bias that exists against sustainable, domestic tonewoods. But mostly, once this guitar is in hand thoughts will go mostly to how nice it sounds and how easy it plays.
