Condition / Setup Notes

Very Good(-); The guitar shows play wear in general for a guitar that has been played during its lifetime. For those focused on the instrument beyond its cosmetic condition, this is usually a good sign. There are signs of a golpejador and string protector below the bridge that have been removed from the guitar at some point. These marks in the finish are visible in raking light. However, with the finish being shellac, the new owner can elect to have this repolished, if so desired. The current string height is about 3mm to 2.5mm from bass to treble, with a nice straight neck, minimal relief. It’s playing nicely.

***

Eric Sahlin’s work is in high demand, with a waitlist extending beyond 10 years. It’s easy to see why when handling instruments like this one. The “twisted” neck, a Sahlin signature innovation, does indeed have a nice feel for the left hand. I quite like his rosettes that integrate colorful shell into traditional motifs. A beautifully made guitar with a gorgeous, plump cedar voice. The condition is well-worn, but easily touched up for those who would desire it. The 640mm string length on this one will appeal to some seeking a shorter length.
