Julius Borges 00-28 Twelve Fret

2004 Julius Borges 00-28

Guitars from the workshop of Julius Borges don’t appear too often, and with the builder’s recent retirement they have become more scarce. This one is a phenomenal example of his work, in the desirable format of a twelve-fret 00. Some will appreciate the solid headstock and its 25.5” string length.

Condition / Setup Notes

The guitar has aged gracefully in its 20 years, now just showing finish checking but with minimal surface wear to be found otherwise. The saddle is nice and tall with a string height of ~5/64”-4/64” and minimal relief, ideal for fingerstyle. The frets show some wear in the typical areas, primarily the lower frets below the first and second strings, but do not interfere with playing.

***

This guitar really shows what this celebrated luthier has become known for; classic stylings and a sound that takes an inspiration from tradition. The longer scale and wider nut combined with the twelve-fret neck and 00 size, occupies a nice niche. Its notably light weight adds to the tactile experience of holding and playing this fabulous instrument.
